How RateMyVet works

We think a directory should be transparent about where its information comes from and how it ranks things. Here’s exactly how we do it.

Where our data comes from

We compile our 4,008+ listings from public, authoritative sources, Australian state veterinary board registers of licensed premises, public business records, and openly-licensed mapping data. We don’t buy our directory from a single feed; we cross-check practices across sources so listings are as accurate and complete as we can make them.

How we rank practices

When we show “highly rated” or “top-rated” practices, ranking reflects a blend of:

Review quality & volume

Both the rating and how many people left it, a 4.9 from 400 clients says more than a 5.0 from three.

Verified & claimed listings

Practices that claim their profile and keep it current rank ahead of stale, unverified entries.

Where we display a Google rating, it’s shown as a reference and attributed to Google. Reviews collected on RateMyVet are gathered independently and shown separately.

Our stance on reviews

We don’t delete honest reviews to make a practice look better than it is, and we don’t sell ranking. Genuine feedback, good and bad, is what makes a directory worth trusting. Practices can respond to any review, but they can’t erase honest ones.

Corrections & removals

Listings show factual business information only. If a detail is wrong, or you’d like your listing updated or removed, get in touch and we’ll sort it out.
